Business Continuity ETPConsulting

Case Study 3

DIY Business Continuity Management

Focus-Wickes is the second largest UK DIY retailer in terms of turnover. Through its Focus and Wickes branded stores, the Group offers an extensive range of home improvement products to both DIY and trade customers.

As of the 28 April 2002, the Group operated in excess of 130 Wickes stores with a total of around 13 million square feet of net selling space. With 4 warehouses, operating it's own transport fleet and customer call centre operation and with a central head-office staff of over 300, the senior management looked to ETP Consulting to review and make recommendations in respect of the ongoing appropriateness of the businesses existing continuity plans.

Following an initial review and report to senior management, ETP Consulting were asked to work with the business to assist in the consolidation and updating of Wickes business continuity plans.

A BCM workshop session, attended by key managers from across the business, was facilitated by ETP Consulting in order to identify business risk, control and recovery activities. Our role in this project extended to include the production of a consolidated Disaster Recovery Plan document and advising on the ongoing management of Business Continuity processes across the company.
